API 35 · VANILLA_ICE_CREAM
Android 15 Vanilla Ice Cream
Private Space
The story
Android 15 arrived at a moment when phones were fast enough that the platform could afford to be strict about layout and security.
The problem
Apps still opted out of edge-to-edge and could hide system bars, and data privacy needed a stronger separation model.
Android 15 enforced edge-to-edge, added Private Space, theft protection, and 16 KB page size support for native libraries.
Edge-to-edge became mandatory, and 16 KB pages arrived.
